Marine protection and fishing
Oceans are the lifeline of our planet, they produce half the oxygen we breathe, provide us with food, and are places of recreation. With most of the marine species not even known, oceans are hotspots of biodiversity. However, this richness is in danger, climate change, overfishing, harmful fishing practices and pollution have severe consequences for the living conditions in the oceans and marine species are declining at an alarming rate. In my work in the Committee on Fisheries, I fight for putting the environment over profits to save marine biodiversity and the livelihoods depending on it.
