(hereinafter referred to as "we"), as operator of the skakeller.de website, is responsible for the personal data of the users of the website (hereinafter: "you") in the sense of the General Data Protection Regulation.

The protection of the personal data of our visitors is important to us. You can rely on us to handle your data sensitively and carefully and to ensure high data security. We comply with the provisions of the Federal Data Protection Act and the German Teleservices Act as well as the General Data Protection Regulation and will process users’ personal data only to the extent described in this Privacy Notice.

1. What personal data do we collect?

Personal data is information from which your identity may be ascertainable. We collect personal information only if you voluntarily disclose it to us. Depending on your use of our site, this may be the following:

When you sign up for one of our events through the registration form, the details you provide will include your name, email address, and other optional information such as the organisation you work for or requests to participate in specific workshops sent to us and stored until the event. If your data is not necessary to plan the event at an earlier point in time, for example because you cancel your participation, then the data will be deleted.

Newsletter

The following information tells you about the contents of our newsletter as well as our registration, dispatch and statistical evaluation procedures as well as your right to objection. By subscribing to our newsletter, you agree to receive it and to the procedures described.

We only send newsletters with the consent of the recipient.

Our newsletters contain information about our political work and are sent at most once a month.

Double opt-in and logging

The registration for our newsletter uses a double opt-in procedure. This means that after signing up you will receive an e-mail asking you to confirm your registration. This confirmation is necessary so that nobody can register with other people’s e-mail addresses. Registrations for the newsletter are stored in our database as proof of the registration process in accordance with legal requirements. This includes saving login and confirmation times. Similarly, changes to your stored data are also logged.

Registration details: To subscribe to the newsletter, it is sufficient if you provide your e-mail address and your name so we can personalise the newsletter.

Logging the registration process is based on our legitimate interests in accordance with. Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. Our aim is a user-friendly and secure newsletter system, which satisfies both our interests and the expectations of users and also gives us proof of consent.

Termination / Revocation

You can terminate the receipt of our newsletter at any time, i.e. withdraw your consent. A link to cancel the newsletter can be found at the end of each newsletter. We may save the stored email addresses for up to three years based on our legitimate interests before we delete them so that we can prove consent was given previously. The processing of this data is limited to the purpose of a possible defence against claims. An individual request to delete this data is possible at any time, provided that former consent can also be confirmed.

2. Why and on what legal basis do we collect your personal data?

The data entered by you in the newsletter or registration form will only be used to provide the service requested by you. As of 25.05.2018 (the start of application of the General Data Protection Regulation) we do so on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR.

3. Your rights

You can always contact us and request information, correction, deletion or restricted processing of the data stored about you. You also have a right to data portability and the right to complain to a regulator. Please contact jan.albrecht[at]europarl.europa.eu to exercise your rights over us.

4. Transfer of data to third parties

We do not share personally identifiable information with third parties unless we are required to do so by the relevant authorities or by court order. This may be, in particular, the provision of information for law enforcement or security purposes, or the enforcement of intellectual property rights.

5. Links to other websites

Our website contains links to the websites of other providers not affiliated with us. Once you click on the link, we no longer have any influence on how the transmitted data are processed (such as the IP address or the URL where the link is located), as the behaviour of third parties is beyond our control. Therefore, we cannot accept any responsibility for the processing of such data by third parties.

6. Security

All information you submit to us will be stored on servers in Germany. We use technical and organisational security measures to ensure that the personal data of our users is protected against loss, destruction, incorrect changes or unauthorised access by third parties. In particular, your personal data is encrypted when it is sent to us.

In any case, only authorised persons have access to your personal data from our company, and only as far as necessary for the purposes mentioned above.

7. Use of cookies

We use cookies on our website. Cookies are small text files that are sent by our web servers to your browser when you visit our web pages and are stored by them on your computer for later retrieval. Whether cookies are set and retrieved can be determined by the settings in your browser. For example, you can disable cookies altogether in your browser, restrict it to certain websites, or configure your browser to automatically notify you when a cookie is about to be set and ask for your response.

We use so-called session cookies (also known as temporary cookies) on our websites. Session cookies are stored in temporary memory only while you browse our websites. The purpose of these cookies is to identify your computer when you visit our websites and to be able to determine when you leave the website. In order to use the full functionality of our website, for technical reasons session cookies must be enabled. Session cookies are deleted as soon as you leave our website or close your browser.

8. IP addresses

When you visit our pages, your IP address as well as the pages you visit are stored in so-called log files in anonymised form. The IP address is shortened before processing and is processed in anonymised form only. Unabridged IP addresses are neither stored nor processed. Geolocation of where a website is called up takes place exclusively on the basis of an anonymised IP address and only to the geographical level of countries. Under no circumstances can any conclusions be drawn on the specific place of residence of a user from the geographic information obtained in this way. We create statistics from log files so we can recognise which of our contents are frequently accessed. Through the log files, we can gain an insight into how our service is used. For example, we learn which pages are especially popular. We perform this analysis using the statistics tool "Slimstat Analytics". The results of this analysis are provided in statistical form and are anonymous. The IP addresses cannot be used to identify users.

9. Social Media Plugins

The contents of our website often contain social media buttons. These allow you to make use of the interactive possibilities of the social networks you use via our website.  Only when you click on one of these buttons will data be transmitted to the respective site operators. These may include, but are not limited to, your IP address, information about your browser and operating system, screen resolution, installed browser plugins, visitors’ location, referrers, and the URL of the current page.
