Interview with the "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung"

Regarding the misleading press coverage on Ska’s interview in a German newspaper, the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung, we would like to clarify what Ska actually said.

When responding to the question of ‘resettling a Syrian village to Latvia’, which was suggested by the journalist, Ska explained that in a country like Latvia, where few refugees live, it could be easier for refugees, if they were relocated in groups. Latvia is one of the EU member states that is doing best in relocation. Ska was never suggesting to send whole villages to Eastern Europe.

Ska also explained that the infringement procedure is the correct instrument for EU member states who refuse to take in refugees. She did not suggest that the relocation of entire villages is the appropriate measure to deal with member states, like the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary, who boycott the EU relocation programme.
